Arthur Baird

 

Arthur Baird is a 46 year veteran of the bakery business and the grandson of Ninnie L. Baird, the founder of Mrs. Baird’s Bakeries, Inc.

 

He began his career with Mrs. Baird’s Bakeries working after school part-time and served as the General Manager of the Austin and Houston Operations, Vice President of Industrial Relations, Executive Vice President of Administration and Vice Chairman of the Board until he retired in July, 1998.

 

Mr. Baird has been active in many professional and community organizations, chairing the Small Business, Education and Development Committees for the Greater Houston Partnership, serving as Chairman of the Board of Sheltering Arms and Avance and President of the Houston Grocery Manufacturers Representatives Association.

 

Currently, he serves on the Board of Memorial Hermann Hospital System and is Chairman of the Community Advisory Board of the Harris County Education Foundation, which is focusing on improving access to after-school programs in Harris County.

 

He and his wife Philamena live in Houston and have six children and eight grandchildren.
