Most Reverend Joseph A. Fiorenza

Catholic Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston

Most Reverend Joseph A. Fiorenza is the Archbishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.

 

He was ordained in 1954. From 1954 thru 1979, he served in a variety of assignments in the Houston area including Administrator, Pastor, Vice Chancellor and Chancellor of the Galveston-Houston diocese.

 

He was named Pilate of Honor to His Holiness and served as Bishop of San Angelo. He was appointed as Bishop of Galveston-Houston by Pope John II and be became an Archbishop in 2004.

 

Archbishop Emeritus Fiorenza has been a tireless crusader on issues involving children and the underserved and has vigorously championed the Children’s Health Insurance Program in Texas.
