Established
in 2000, CDF's Rio Grande Valley office focuses on a Healthy
Start and Fair Start
for Texas children through outreach that promotes enrollment,
utilization and renewal of Children's Medicaid and CHIP and
tax credits and benefits.
CDF RGV works in collaboration with school
districts, faith and community-based organizations and business
leaders to promote a Fair Start for
children by facilitating access to resources that strengthen
the capacity of families to support their children.
CDF RGV coordinates two major programs directly
benefiting children and families:
- insure-a-kid Texas Grants for
School Outreach
Assisting over 107,500 students in seven school districts
to obtain health coverage through Medicaid or CHIP.
- Campaign
for Working Families
Providing free tax e-filing for low-income families which
helps to return hundreds of thousands of dollars back to local
communities.
