Anat Kelman Shaw serves as Communications Director for CDF-TX, managing public, print and electronic communications, and media relations.
Anat works closely with CDF-TX's policy director to coordinate and communicate statewide advocacy efforts through the Texas Finish Line Campaign. She helped produce two influential and widely distributed In Harm's Way reports that were instrumental in improving health coverage policies for thousands of Texas children. Anat also serves as lead project manager for CDF-TX's annual Beat the Odds® program in both Houston and Dallas.
In 2004, Anat's report on the state of elementary student health coverage in the Houston ISD led to the successful completion of the school-based outreach pilot, funded by the Michael and Susan Dell foundation. Since 2004, Anat has served the state office in a variety of capacities, including Outreach Coordinator, Statewide Outreach Coordinator, and Manager of Communications and Development. As Statewide Outreach Coordinator, Anat helped coordinate outreach efforts in 19 school districts of Harris county and produced child health billboard and McDonald's trayliner campaigns in ten Texas cities.
Anat holds a B.A. degree in Government with a minor in Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin and is pursuing a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Houston.
