In June of 2011, Karen Fossom joined CDF-Texas as Associate Director of its Rio Grande Valley regional office.
For the last 26 years, Karen has made the Valley her home and has worked on a variety of projects including a community health centers consortium, the University of Texas System Border Health Office, domestic violence and sexual assault, and family planning. She has also collaborated on a variety of HIV/AIDS projects, worked on conservation issues, and with an international agency conducting projects along the Texas-Mexico border and in Bolivia. Karen brings many years of experience in planning and program implementation, quality and risk management, grant writing, and training to CDF-Texas. Her passion is using evaluation to strengthen programs.
She holds a BS in Education and a Masters in Public Health in Community Health from the University of Minnesota, and is also a Certified Health Education Specialist.
