J. Michael Treviño has more than thirty years of experience in legislative and regulatory advocacy, communications, outreach strategies, image development, reputation management and coalition building.
Michael has worked in public affairs and communications for Marathon Oil and Texaco Inc., held various public and government affairs positions in Washington, D.C., and served as a Vice President with Fleishman-Hillard, an international public relations consulting firm based in St. Louis, MO. Prior to joining Fleishman-Hillard, Michael practiced law in the District of Columbia and served as the National Executive Director of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the nation’s oldest and largest ‘Hispanic’ civil rights organization.
Michael is active and has served on the Boards of numerous civic organizations including: Children’s Defense Fund-Texas, Mickey Leland Kibbutzim Foundation, The Mexican Institute of Greater Houston, Holocaust Museum Houston Executive Committee and Board, Southwest Region UNICEF, Houston Public Library, Memorial Hermann Hospital Continuing Care Corporation, Pan American Development Foundation, and World Affairs Council Houston. He has served as Chairman of the Houston International Festival, and was founding member of both the Advisory Board of the Smithsonian Office of Latino Initiatives and the National Hispanic Council of State Legislators.
A native of San Antonio, Michael is married to Ileana V. Treviño, CEO of the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System Foundation. Michael and Ileana have three children: Margot, Maria Alexa, and Miguel.
