John Gasko currently serves as the Director of Research and
Public Policy for the CDF Texas Early Childhood Education Coalition
(TECEC), where he manages and oversees all strategic early childhood
education projects and research initiatives, and coordinates
all legislative and policy efforts at the Texas Legislature
and throughout the state.
Prior to becoming a part of TECEC, John served as a research
associate for an education think tank, the Texas Center for
Education Policy, at the University of Texas at Austin, where
he conducted quantitative and qualitative research projects
in local Texas communities. In addition, he is a former middle
school and high school teacher, and vice-principal of academics
for the Edgewood school district in San Antonio, Texas.
John’s education credentials include a Bachelor’s
degree in engineering from the New York Maritime Academy, a
Master’s in Education from St. Mary’s University
in San Antonio, and he is finishing his Ph.D. in Educational
Policy and Strategic Planning at the University of Texas at
Austin. John will graduate in May 2008 and resides in Round
Rock, Texas with his wife, Laura, and his son, Aviel.
