Texas Well and Healthy

Texas has the worst rate of uninsured people in the country, and the second worst rate of uninsured children. When Texas children are covered they can get the health care they need when they need it, and when Texas parents are covered, Texas children do better. They are more likely to get covered, stay covered and access needed healthcare services. Thanks to Medicaid, CHIP and the ACA, the numbers of uninsured children have dropped significantly, but there is still much work to be done to protect and strengthen their success.

CDF-Texas is a lead organizer of Texas Well and Healthy, a statewide grassroots campaign to ensure that every Texas child, caregiver, or person with a disability has access to the affordable health care coverage they need. The campaign represents a collaboration between CDF-Texas, Texans Care for Children, the Center for Public Policy Priorities (CPPP), and Progress Texas.
