Carolyn DeVaughn is Manager of Outreach for the Houston office.
She coordinates volunteer capacity, trains and supervises part-time
outreach staff to support CDF's Houston and Harris County child
health insurance outreach and enrollment efforts.
In support of CDF's school-based outreach initiatives, Carolyn
has trained over 300 Houston Independent School District nurses,
parent liaisons, counselors and support staff on the Children’s
Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Children’s Medicaid
application process. She has also trained school nurses and
staff of the Health and Medical Services Department in the 19
outlying school districts of Region 4 - Harris County.
As a mother of a child with special health care needs, she
knows first hand some of the needs of Houston children. She
has also used her awareness of resources in assisting Hurricane
Katrina/Rita and Ike families to access services.
Carolyn serves on the Neighborhood Centers Inc. Health Services
Advisory Committee and on the Child Advocacy Task Force of the
Presbytery of New Covenant. She is a native Houstonian and graduate
of Huston-Tillotson University in Austin with a B.A. degree
in Sociology.
