Children’s Life Boat: Hurricane Harvey

The Children’s Defense Fund – Texas is committed to raising awareness about the challenges facing children, connecting children and families to resources that help to meet their needs, and working with partners to coordinate broad support to improve the well-being of children. This newsletter is published to help families and communities in Texas and Louisiana recovering from Hurricane Harvey protect and support children and youth – to ensure their protection, ease access to basic needs, and provide for their psychosocial development and positive growth through the delivery of health, social, and supportive services.

The Children’s Defense Fund is dedicated to providing a strong, effective and independent voice for all the children of America who cannot vote, lobby, or speak for themselves. We pay particular attention to the needs of poor children, children of color and those with disabilities.

CDF’s mission is to ensure every child a Healthy Start, a Head Start, a Fair Start, a Safe Start and a Moral Start in life and successful passage to adulthood with the help of caring families and communities. That is why CDF educates the nation about the needs of children and encourages preventive investments before they get sick, drop out of school, get into trouble or suffer family breakdown.
