Events Nationwide Focus on Lifting Up the Next Generation in Advocacy and Prayer
HOUSTON – Throughout the month of October, diverse faith communities across the nation will take part in the Children’s Defense Fund’s (CDF) 20th annual National Observance of Children’s Sabbaths® Celebration. A local celebration will be held in Houston on Sunday, October 17, 2010, at 3:30 p.m. at St. Mary's United Methodist Church, 6731 Scott Street. The public is invited to attend.
Based upon the theme, “Blessed to Be a Blessing: Lifting Up the Next Generation,” the event will feature special performances by youth singers, a mass choir, dancers, and musicians in a presentation directed by story weaver Sister Mama Sonia/3sisters in the spirit Theatre Ministry. This annual celebration provides the opportunity for communities of faith to strengthen existing efforts for children, discover new opportunities, and respond to the Divine mandate to nurture, protect, and advocate for all children.
