On April 14th, 2010, CDF-Texas held its inaugural Beat the Odds scholarship awards luncheon at the Tower Club in Dallas. The event was chaired by CDF-TX Advisory Board member Sarah Palisi Chapin, with Pat and Emmitt Smith, former Dallas Cowboy MVP, serving as Honorary Co-Chairs.

Three extraordinary high school seniors, plus a fourth runner-up, were recognized and awarded scholarships for their achievements in overcoming tremendous adversity to succeed in school and in life.

In addition to scholarships, proceeds from the event sustain the critical year-round work of CDF-Texas to ensure every child a healthy start in life and to support continued youth development initiatives. This inaugural event also lays a foundation for expanded future CDF-Texas efforts in Dallas.
