On April 15th, CDF-Texas hosted its annual Beat the Odds awards dinner at the River Oaks Country Club in Houston.

The 2010 dinner, co-chaired by Sharon M. Owens and Ed Smith, awarded college scholarships to six extraordinary high school seniors and honored Champions of Children, Philamena and Arthur Baird with a Moral Compass Award.

Thank you to all of our generous program sponsors, including special thanks to H-E-B, CenterPoint Energy, Continental Airlines, TECH CORPS Texas, Macy's, and Chevron for donating audio-visual services, printing, airfare, laptops, clothing, and gasoline gift cards for each scholarship recipient.

In addition to scholarships, proceeds from the event sustain the critical year-round work of CDF-Texas to ensure every child a healthy start in life and to support continued youth development initiatives.
