Legislative Activities

82nd Legislative Session

The Texas Senate and House of Representatives are trying to balance the state's 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 budgets. CDF-Texas advocates, business leaders, and families traveled to Austin to testify before the Senate Finance and House Appropriations sub-committees on health and human services to underscore the importance of protecting children's health coverage from cuts, and to advocate against a cuts-only approach to balancing the state's $27 billion budget shortfall.  Their testimony addressed the harmful consequences and the fiscal irresponsibility of the cuts proposed to social services.

  • Written testimony presented to House Appropriations Article II Subcommittee:
  • Oral testimony presented by:
    • Lan Bentsen, Beth Quill, Laura Guerra-Cardus, and Richard Uhr
