Partnering with Schools

Partnering with schools has been central to our strategic vision. What began in 2002 as a pilot project with the Health & Medical Services departments of Houston ISD and Edinburg CISD is today an integrated and expanded initiative that continues to reach families with information about health coverage options for children in school districts even beyond Texas. More than 20 school districts in Harris County, 15 school districts in the Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and others have taken part in the Campaign by: (1) adding a health insurance question to school enrollment forms, (2) identifying the need, (3) following-up with information about how to apply, use and renew CHIP and Medicaid, and (4) educating those who do not qualify about or charity clinics.

Since 2009, we have worked closely with the Texas Association of School Administrators and American Association of Schools Administrators to communicate the All Healthy Children Campaign to school superintendents and administrators across Texas and nationwide.
