When she was an infant, a family friend agreed to care for Jasmine Gibson and her two brothers while their mother entered a rehabilitation program. Unfortunately Jasmine’s biological mother was unable to overcome her drug addiction and their family friend ultimately adopted Jasmine and her two brothers, raising them along with her own daughter as a single parent. Jasmine’s adoptive mother withdrew from college in order to work full time and support her family. Jasmine grew into a confident, energetic, articulate young woman, and graduated from Skyline High School in 2010. She was active in the Skyline Student Senate, a member of the Mock Trial team and tutored freshman football players in math. In her spare time, she was a dedicated volunteer for Shoes for Orphan Souls and an intern for Margaret Turner Carrigan, Attorney at Law. Jasmine plans to study Journalism and be Pre-Law at Howard University and to one day practice Family Law. With the last of her children heading off to college, Jasmine's mother plans to continue her own college education.
