Carolina Cantu serves as Outreach Specialist for CDF RGV. She
joined Children’s Defense Fund's Rio Grande Valley office
in 2002 and served as Child Health Outreach Program Assistant
until 2004. She returned to CDF in 2007 to assist in promoting
and implementing the Children’s Health Insurance Outreach
Program in fifteen school districts in Hidalgo County.
Her work with CDF also includes promoting the Campaign
for Working Families EITC outreach, and serving as
an IRS-certified income tax preparer at CDF RGV-sponsored VITA
centers.
After obtaining a diploma with Primerica Financial Services,
Carolina worked as Office Manager from 1999 to 2002. Carolina
has extensive experience working with non-profit organizations
including AVANCE Rio Grande Valley Christian Children’s
Fund Program as well as Administrative Assistant for the Coalition
for Valley Families.
Carolina has also worked for Periódico El Mañana
in Mexico and McAllen, Texas where she was the Spanish translator
for the newspaper.
