Spread Truth

Share a recent factsheet, publication, news, event or action about the problems facing children in Texas within your various networks, both online and offline. Write a letter to the editor of your newspaper. Contact your elected official’s office. You will help build awareness and start needed conversations about policies affecting children in America.

Plan a Community March

Partner with as many local organizations as possible to organize a community march and/or vigil. Gather the names of children and teens lost to gun violence in your community. Choose a community location that highlights the problems that face our nation’s children.

Join the Children’s Defense Fund for the Proctor Institute in July

Come to the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Institute on Child Advocacy Ministry at the CDF Haley Farm in Clinton, Tennessee, and learn with CDF staff and top child advocates across the country. The Samuel DeWitt Proctor Institute for Child Advocacy Ministry provides spiritual renewal, continuing education, inter-generational movement-building workshops, and networking as Christians from across the denominational spectrum explore how their Christian faith calls them into ministries of child advocacy and guides, shapes, and sustains them in their work with and for children.

Host a Children’s Sabbath Service in October

Each year in October, thousands of Houses of Worship of all faiths lift up children’s needs by hosting a National Observance of Children’s Sabbaths® celebration. Check out the multi-faith resources including a step-by-step guide on organizing a Children’s Sabbath weekend. Volunteer to plan a celebration in your synagogue, church, temple, mosque or shrine.
